This is one of a series of acrylic glazing studies I painted over the summer. Here I began exploring a green/red complementary scheme, with Green Gold highlights (a bright greenish yellow) in the skin. But this wasn’t appealing to me, and I decided to push the piece in a more realistic direction. A glaze of Pyrrole Orange and some other adjustments followed.
